Another Project: St. Patties Day Wreath

After Kyle went to bed on Tuesday night I started getting out my St. Patrick's Day decorations. I decided that I wanted to do something special and different to decorate the door this year. So that is when I went looking at all my different things I had around the house that I could make a door decoration with.... I came up with paint, white and green foam.
I got on the internet and found two patterns for shamrocks and spent the rest of the night cutting these out. (This was no easy task for me - I failed cutting in kindergarten!) However I was determined and I did it.

On Wednesday night, I put the paint in styrofoam plates and got Kyle to put his thumb print in red on the green shamrock's and his entire hand print in green on the white ones.

After we finished making the shamrocks I let him play with the paint...


He had a blast!

For the back of the wreath I made a little sign with Kyle's thumb prints to make a shamrock. This is where I put his name and date we made the hand prints. (sorry its blurry!)

On Thursday, I finished putting it together. (Hey Monica- this is what I was doing and trying to explain while I was talking to you!:-)) The ribbon is a white back ground and has green shamrocks with red lady bugs which really ties it all in nicely.

I know... I'm no Martha Stewart but I am really starting to enjoy these little projects!

What a great weekend!

Wow! Is it Sunday night already?! As I was packing bags and laying out our clothes for in the morning I honestly could not believe that it had flown by this quickly. But we really have had a great weekend!

Friday started off with Kyle's Valentine's Day lunch party at school. Several parents brought refreshments in for lunchtime (I was so worried he would only have junk food so I made turkey and cheese sandwiches!) I went over for his class lunch and Kyle did great! After lunch the kids got to go out on the play ground for about 30 minutes before nap time so I got to video tape him going down the big boy slide.

Friday night, Kyle and I went over to Grace's house. Karen made a delicious lasagna and the kids had a great time playing together. Below is a picture of Kyle posing for Grace to take his picture. Karen and I talked about how we always hope they will be good friends and we are going to pull these pictures out when they are in high school! :-)

Saturday morning.... No pictures to post of Kyle opening his Valentine's from Mommy and Daddy cause he opened it by himself!!! Ben was asleep and I had gone to brush my teeth and Kyle runs to the bathroom with his present telling me to "LOOK" and to "open the box".

On Saturday afternoon, Mom came over and we celebrated Valentine's Day and then went to run errands in town.

On Sunday, Ben's parents came down and celebrated Valentine's Day with Kyle and visited for the afternoon.

Kyle has a very bad habit of trying to stand on his toys... So Dee Dee was showed him how to jump OVER them! It has worked too. For the rest of the afternoon, I had a little frog jumping over everything in the living room!:-)

Project Time!

My favorite thing to do right now is read other websites and blogs on home organization and crafts. It's really funny because half of the time I can not possibly even begin to imagine how to start one of these projects that I read about because I do not have the time or resources. But I found one a few weeks ago on Tuesdays with Molly that I thought would be a perfect small project and would be really cute....

Before: I have been hanging alot of Kyle's artwork from school on the metal door leading into the garage with magnets and clips. To me this has always looked messy, but Kyle is so proud of the pictures he has colored and made I feel like I have to display them.



When I found this sign/project holder idea I definetely wanted to try it! Instead of using wood I used foam board for the base. I used scrapbooking paper that I already had and a ribbon that came on a birthday present that was so cute that I could not bear to part with it. I did buy the chip board letters and the clips at Michael's (total of about $8).

And here is the finished project....

I am really proud of the way it turned out! I hung it back on the metal door with those On Command hooks so I had no holes and then put up Kyle's most recent art work. I thought that it might be fun to change it out weekly as he makes new things.

Kyle and the Pretty Girl

On Saturday night, Kyle and I went to the Miss East Georgia College pageant. Kyle had a great time! He would clap for everyone, he danced with the music and when the girls would leave the stage he would announce "All Done!" to everyone around us.

The highlight of the night was after the pageant was over Kyle got to go up on stage to see his MeMe (Vicki). After seeing everyone on the stage he got to get his picture taken with the new Miss East Georgia College! Kyle is so proud and excited about this picture! I printed a copy out for him and he has carried it around most of the day. When you ask Kyle who is in the picture he immediately gets a big smile on his face and says "Kyle and Pretty Girl!"

Congratulations Miss Whitney on becoming the new Miss East Georgia College! We will be cheering you on all the way to Miss Georgia! And thank you for making your "little buddy's" night!

MeMe - Great Job!!! The pageant was wonderful and everyone could tell you put ALOT of time and energy into it! I am so glad we got to come and be a part of it!
