4th of July!

Sorry, so late in posting this but I figured better late than never! :-)

On the 4th we celebrated very quietly. Ben had to work that day so Kyle and I did our usual Sunday errands and made cupcakes (a post on that in a little bit!). Then when Ben got home, we got out in the back yard and let Kyle play in his whale pool (a post on that also coming in a little bit) and Ben grilled Hamburgers and hot dogs. Doesn't Kyle look so cute helping his Daddy with the burgers! Actually this is as close to the grill as he got but he felt important by holding the spatuala!! :-)

Then Ben and Kyle played baseball.... Kyle got pretty good at swinging and hitting the ball.

After supper and bathtime, we decided to light a few sparklers before it got dark. Yes I know it would have been better at night but Kyle doesn't really like the dark or the loud noises of other fireworks so this was a perfect time for us.

He loved playing with the sparklers!! He waved them around and we played with 3 boxes of them! I did keep a box or two inside so maybe we can play with them again outside one evening soon.

Kyle and Marti

On Wednesday of our "Stay cation", Aunt Monica and Marti came to visit! Kyle and I met them at the mall and first we had lunch at Chik - Fil - A. Kyle and Marti ate a table just there size!
Then after lunch we went down to the soft play area. It was SO cute, they held hands walking through the mall! :-)

Then it was PLAY TIME!!!
They played for a good while and I think they had a great time! By the time we left, Kyle was absolutely exhausted! I think he was asleep before we ever got out of the parking lot! :-)

A visit to the park...

On Monday of last week, Mom and I took Kyle to Forsyth Park to have a picnic and to play in the new splash fountain area and on the playgrounds. The weather turned out to be wonderful and not too terribly hot at all! Fortunately on a Monday, the park was not crowded and Kyle really got to run and play. The new splash fountains are great! He loved running through all the water that was spraying up.

Then he started backing up to the fountains and letting the water run over his back and bottom. It was too funny!! :-)

After Kyle played a while in the water, we set up our picnic under some large trees. There was a wonderful breeze and it was quiet pleasant!

After the picnic, Kyle spotted the playground. He made a bee line for the older kids playground (ages 5 -12) which I knew he would cause it had bigger slides! :-) He LOVED this rock climbing wall. I was very impressed that he climbed it the first time all by himself. I know, I know....my baby is growing up and can do these things by himself now!

More climbing....

This was a GREAT way to kick off our "staycation" 2010! I really can't wait to take Kyle back to play and have a picnic again!

Kyle's Field Day!

The Friday before Kyle got out of school for break they had Field Day. I was very excited I got to go over and visit for a little bit!
When I first arrived his class was outside playing with bubbles, side walk chalk, bouncy balls, and a pop up tent. Kyle wanted to show me the HUGE bubbles he could make with the big bubble wands.

Then he showed me how the big bubble wands made silly glasses....

After a little bit, they went inside and set up the tent and did face painting!

Kyle wanted airplanes on both cheeks cause "he daddy works on planes"! :-)

Changes and new doors

In preparation for getting our house ready for a new baby we are closing in our garage to turn it into a playroom/family room.

The first step was cleaning it out....BOY was that a job!

Then Ben and his Dad built a storage building in the back yard for all of Ben's stuff. (I need to take pictures of the storage building!)

Two weekends ago, Ben had two friends come over to help take down the garage door and put in the new double door.

Then on Tuesday of this week, one of his friends came back over to put the siding on around the door. I must say for 2 guys who have never worked with siding before they did a great job! :-)

Hopefully next week, the inside of the room will be done and I will be able to share pictures of it! :-)
