Getting Ready for Santa

Kyle has been waiting SO long for Santa that I actually wanted him to know that it was finally time for Santa to come we made a HUGE deal about it. We kicked off Christmas Eve morning by making Gingerbread man cookies for Santa Claus. The cookies turned out SO cute! Ben and I both decorated and we let Kyle make his own cookies. LOOK at how any sprinkles he used! Oh well it was Christmas and he was having a good time. That is all that mattered! :-)

He got the hang of using the icing and iced some too. However we ended up spreading his icing out on his cookies because he wanted to add sprinkles to everything.
After nap time, we all got dressed to go to Swainsboro for Christmas with Ben's grandparents. We went outside for Kyle to spread the "magic reindeer food" for Santa's reindeer. I knew it would be too late and too cold for us to be outside after we got home so we did it a little early.

Kyle REALLY got into throwing it everywhere! :-)

After we got home from Swainsboro, we got Kyle ready for bed and then told him that it was time to hang the special Santa Key on the front door so Santa can come inside. (How else is Santa suppose to come in since we do not have a chimney!?!?)

Then Ben and Kyle picked out gingerbread cookies for Santa.

And Kyle got Santa some milk.....

And now he is all ready for Santa Claus to come see him!

Isn't this picture SO sweet!?!

Nannie and Pa's Christmas

On Sunday December 20 we went to Swainsboro for Ben's grandparents Christmas. Kyle had a great time playing with Marti.
DeeDee and Little Pa gave Kyle and Marti a "Stomp" game with numbers and music for them to play with. I think Kyle had more fun stomping it as hard as he could and watching all the numbers falling out.

Kyle being silly with Marti's basket. Everything has to be a hat with him!
Playing with the Thomas the Train set that The Murray's gave him.

Christmas with Daddy and Zack

Saturday, Dec 19 kicked off a week long Christmas Celebration with all of the families. I can't believe I got this behind in my blog postings but I am going to catch up now!

Anyways....Saturday morning we opened presents with Daddy and Zack. My Mom, Vicki and Aunt Ree also came down.

Kyle's Christmas Party

This afternoon, Kyle's class had its Christmas party. Kyle was SO excited that Ben and I both got to attend!

Before the party got started, Kyle kept eyeing the food trying to decide what he wanted to eat. Well I guess I should say...he kept swiping items off the trays to eat! :-) He grabbed little cubes of cheese several times and even stuck his fingers into the cupcake icing.

Before the class ate they all sang the prayer to bless the food. We snapped this picture right before they sang. Kyle kept looking at us grinning.

Snack time!!

Kyle made us a frame and Miss Pam and Miss Jennifer took a picture of Kyle in front of the tree at school. It is too cute!

Happy Birthday Ben!!

Over the weekend we celebrated Ben's birthday. Kyle was SO excited and wanted to be Daddy's helper to open his cards and unwrap his present. On the card from Kyle I let him draw/write/color on it. Kyle LOVED "signing" Daddy's card and had to show Ben all his marks he had made. :-)
Now onto opening the present! I didn't tell Kyle what it was so when Ben asked Kyle what he is was getting Kyle told him "A Box". (Well technically he was right!)

Every year for Ben's birthday I have always gotten him a cake. Even on the years he was in the Marines and out of town/state/country we would have cake when he came home. This year I didn't have time to make one and I forgot to special order one. (I know I'm bad) so Kyle and I went to the store to find one in the bakery counter. Kyle selected cupcakes! Which was really perfect since we really didn't need all that cake around the house. :-)
Anyway....after dinner we sang "Happy Birthday". Kyle really surprised me by knowing all the words to the song. But what was the funniest part was in between each line of the song he would try to blow the candles.... "Happy Birthday to you...BLOW....Happy Birthday to you....BLOW... Happy Birthday Daddy....BLOW.... "

Watching Kyle really was hilarious! I wish I had recorded it however I think was laughing to hard to hold the camera steady.

It's beginning to look like Christmas...

I have been trying my best to get better about posting on time. But it seems during Thanksgiving I got so behind.

Anyways....The day after Thanksgiving we put our snowman Christmas tree up. Kyle was a really BIG helper this year. You can really tell with some of the ornament placement too. I spread out a few but for the most part I left the ornaments just where he placed them. I figured that he is only little once and I am sure in years to come he will not want to be with Mommy decorating the tree. (However I hope that is many many years from now!)

Over the Thanksgiving weekend, we have decorated outside with lights on the shrubs, wreaths and my 8ft tall blow up snowman that Ben swore would never see the light of day again. However I think even after he saw how excited Kyle got over seeing him blow up he changed his mind. At least I hope he did. :-)
The Disney tree is up in the dining room. Kyle loves this tree more than the snowman tree because he knows all of the characters on it.

I still have some shopping to do but for the most part it is done. Which is honestly the first time I have ever been this far. Now on to start the wrapping, which is honestly one of my least favorite things about Christmas. Maybe it should be all bags this year...nah! :-)

Thanksgiving morning

After we all got dressed and ready to go to Swainsboro for Thanksgiving I really wanted to get a few pictures out in the front yard.

They started off pretty good...

Then Kyle wanted to see what was going on inside. (We had to explain that nothing was happening inside. We were outside taking pictures!)

Back to have his picture with Daddy....

Then picture time with Mommy....and he was done! This is absolutely the best one we got of us. Oh well....maybe next year.

Turkey Trot

This year, Little Pa, De De and Kyle all participated in the Turkey Trot 5k race to benefit our local children's hospital. Well I guess I should say Little Pa and De De did the 5 k and Kyle and I did the Baby Bird 1/2 mile race.

Kyle was SO excited to get to run!! And he thought it was so cool to wear a number. Little Pa and De De did great! Kyle did great in his 1/2 mile race. I really thought I would end up carrying him back but really he should have carried me! :-)

On your mark....Get Set....

A Trip to the Dentist

I think I have the all American stereo typical 2 and 1/2 year old little boy when it comes to all the bumps and bruises he gets. Maybe it is me being a first time mommy is why I have such a fit each time....but honestly this latest injury has just taken the cake for me!

I guess I should start off by saying Kyle is FINE however he once again has bumps, bruises and scratches all over his face! Yesterday, he fell on the play ground while pushing a truck and has scratches on his chin and upper lip. Then when we got home and I started examining him more closely and I found that his upper gum was swollen and his two front teeth were not the same length anymore. Well this sent me over the EDGE! I kept getting Ben to come in and look at him. Kyle definitely did not want us to mess with him. I was scarred to death his tooth was broken. I probably got up 2 dozen times last night to check on him and if he was laying on his back with his mouth open I would shine my tiny book light in. (I know...slightly psychotic!)

I have a fear of dentists...not just the dentist but the whole dental process. I remember being Kyle's age and getting strapped into the chair to have my teeth cleaned. Mom and I were talking this morning and I don't think I have been to the dentist since I was in college when Mom made the appointment for me and I think she actually drove me there. Knock on wood...my teeth are in fairly good shape and I have not had any major problems. But yes I know I need to go have them cleaned.

So this morning when I got to daycare with Kyle I was still having fits about Kyle's mouth and teeth. His teachers were wonderful and were comforting me more than Kyle (who was really more interested in playing with his friends). They recommended I take him to a dentist.... I stopped in my tracks....What? Go to a dentist!?! NO! I can't walk into a place like that!!!! All my fears came washing over me! I honestly got weak in my knees and thought I was going to throw up. But I put on my big girl pants and said "Okay...where do I go?" They recommended Grace's (Kyle's friend) mama's dentist office. I was okay with this. Kyle would be okay seeing Mrs. Karen (Heck, I would be okay seeing Mrs. Karen!) So off I came to work to get him an appointment. The dentist office was so nice and fit him in right away.

We get to the dentist office and I fill out lots of paper work. My hands were shaking SO bad that I honestly had to rewrite my telephone number down twice cause you couldn't read it the first time. They call us right back and then I try to put Kyle in the big blue plastic dentist chair... No dice. He wasn't having it. This entire time I am trying to be the calm encouraging mommy. Then the dentist said "Mom, why don't you get in the chair with Kyle?" OMG!!!! I could feel my knees going weak, the room started spinning....But I knew I had to do this FOR KYLE!

So I did. I got in the chair. I focused on my baby boy who by this time is squirming and wiggling to get down. The dentist was able to get a few looks into his mouth and count his teeth. It seems that Kyle has jammed his tooth UP into his gum. At least it is not broken...but his tooth could discolor and possibly abscess. (I don't want my baby to have a BLACK TOOTH!!) He is going to be on an antibiotic for the trauma and trying to ward off any infections and we are to go back in a week for a follow up.

So we both survived the dentist office this week...Kyle is back at school with the thoughts of the dentist office long gone. And I am still sitting here with weak knees and this lump in my throat.

Now I have to start worrying about having to go back next week....

New Pajamas...with a dual purpose!

For Halloween, Aunt Moni, Uncle Jonathan and Marti gave Kyle a Halloween goody bag and these Buzz Light year pajamas. (Thank y'all!)

Kyle loves these pajamas and he thinks he is such a big boy in them. This the first time he has ever had a pajama shirt that buttons up the front and he has found a new use for them.

Look closely at the picture....he has his milk sippy cup hooked onto the bottom button!!

(Isn't this just like a little boy to figure out how not to have carry his cup!!) :-)
